Humanitarian Day Returns to Fresno Serving with Purpose and Brotherhood
In the spirit of compassion, unity, and service, ILM Foundation proudly marked the return of Humanitarian Day to Fresno during the blessed month of Ramadan 2026. This year’s effort was a powerful reminder that service not only uplifts communities, but also reconnects hearts and histories.
What began decades ago as a brotherhood on the football field at California State University, Fresno has evolved into a partnership rooted in service. Former teammates and roommates, Earl Yusuf Oliver and Naim Shah Jr., were reunited once again beyond sports in sincere service to humanity.

A Community United in Service
The Fresno Humanitarian Day initiative was led by dedicated community leaders Karim Hakim and Earl Yusuf Oliver, alongside a committed team of approximately 20 volunteers. Partnering with the Fresno State Bulldog Food Pantry, the team worked tirelessly to provide essential food support to families in need.
Through this collaboration, approximately 260 households were served receiving groceries that included fresh produce and non-perishable items. The impact was immediate and deeply felt, not only by those receiving assistance but also by the volunteers themselves.
The coalition consist of Fresno State Bulldog Food Panty, My Deen, MD Revert Group and BreakBox Thought Collective, reflecting a strong coalition of service-minded groups working together for a shared cause.

A Reflection of Purpose
Beyond the numbers, the true impact of Humanitarian Day lies in its human connection.
One volunteer reflected on the experience: “My experience was shocking as I saw a person that I actually knew. This showed me that there are people who are your friends and neighbors who are in need. I was humbled and grateful.”
Another shared, “This was my second time serving during Humanitarian Day… We were blessed to bring it to Fresno. I would like to thank ILM Foundation for allowing us to share in this opportunity.” These reflections highlight a powerful truth. Need is often closer than we think, and service opens our eyes, softens our hearts, and strengthens our communities.

Excellence in Service
The Fresno State Bulldog Food Pantry itself expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, noting how impressed they were with the professionalism, focus, and kindness of the volunteers. This reflects the ILM Foundation standard: service with excellence, dignity, and sincerity. As one organizer shared, “Our volunteers were amazing—focused and friendly. That’s our ILM Foundation combination.”
Continuing the Legacy
As part of a broader statewide Ramadan campaign, Humanitarian Day continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact. What started as a grassroots effort has now grown into a multi-city movement—serving thousands annually across California.
The Fresno chapter is a testament to what’s possible when brotherhood, faith, and service align.
With strong leadership, committed volunteers, and growing partnerships, this is only the beginning. As one organizer said, “We are just getting started, insha’Allah.”

At ILM Foundation, we believe in nourishing bodies and minds. Together, we can create an interconnected community where everyone thrives!
