ILM FOUNDATION & MASJID AL SHAREEF: FOOD BOX DISTRIBUTION INITIATIVE

Powered by Intellect, Love, and Mercy

WHAT ARE FOOD BOXES?

Delivered with dignity, these boxes serve anyone in need of a safety net against hunger.

ILM & MAS Food Boxes are nutrition-focused care packages that offer essential, culturally-relevant staple items. Each box is designed to:

  • Boost family stamina and daily vitality
  • Mitigate symptoms of chronic illness
  • Promote holistic health through reliable, nourishing food

The program targets underserved families across Los Angeles and Long Beach cities. Volunteers and partners distribute boxes community-centered with non-discriminatory access.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Serve as an anti-hunger relief mechanism
  • Raise awareness of local food insecurity
  • Support sustainable health and wellness outcomes
  • Build resilience in vulnerable communities

Why It Matters

Food insecurity has tripled in Los Angeles over the last decade. Thousands face hunger due to economic displacement, homelessness, and systemic inequity. Hunger is both a local and global crisis—ILM is rising to meet it. Feeding people is not an act of charity—it's an act of justice.

California Stats (2021):

  • 3.4 million adults reported going hungry
  • 39% of California adults experienced food insecurity
  • Over one-third of adults below 200% of the poverty line couldn’t afford enough food

Global Stats (Action Against Hunger, Aug 2023):

  • 1 in 10 people suffer from hunger worldwide
  • 13.6 million children endure severe acute malnutrition
  • 2 million children die annually from hunger-related causes
  • Hunger causes 45% of all child deaths globally
  • 1 in 3 children in lower-income countries faces chronic malnutrition
