Humanitarian Day 2026 Ramadan Faith in Action

Our Annual Humanitarian Day Ramadan Event will be held on, Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Gladys Park on 6th and Gladys Street from 10am to 2 pm.

We are quickly approaching the blessed month of Ramadan where we are afforded once again, the opportunity to put our faith into action. Ramadan is a time of Mercy, Gratitude and Forgiveness, attributes that reflect the very essence of Humanitarian Day where we serve the unhoused, as well as our Muslim seniors and families not able to attend the event. This kind of service warrants us to have a certain measure of humility and Mercy amongst those whom we are serving.

Humility knowing, we too could easily be on the other side of the serving line, and that it is only by Allah's Mercy that we are in a position to help others in this capacity.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth, and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.” al-Tirmidhī

This year the challenges that the unhoused are facing are unprecedented, from facing forced expulsion from their encampments to imprisonment and fines if they refuse to leave.

Within the general population we're witnessing deep cuts to Medicaid, which directly impacts services for the disabled as well as a freeze on SNAP benefits for those who receive assistance to purchase food. These challenges will especially impact the unhoused, who are already experiencing great difficulties.

This year, Humanitarian Day will not only provide new basic essential gift items, eye, dental and health screenings but we will also include additional food items.

Our theme for Humanitarian Day this year is "Legacy" in honor of all of those who contributed to make HDay what it is today. We’re acknowledging 26 consecutive years with the Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity, and all those who donated, volunteered and supported HDay from the beginning until now. We are grateful and appreciative of every individual and organization that has participated.
