Turning Compassion into Action
Compassion to Action

Sharing food with those in need is especially important in Ramadan because the month is about empathy, generosity, gratitude, and community.
When Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, they experience hunger and thirst firsthand. This builds compassion for people who struggle with food insecurity every day. Sharing food turns that empathy into action.
Charity (zakah and sadaqah) is a central part of Islam, and its reward is believed to be multiplied during Ramadan. Feeding someone who is fasting is especially encouraged. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) taught that whoever feeds a fasting person receives a reward equal to theirs, without reducing the fasting person’s reward.
Giving in Ramadan also about spiritual purification. Charity softens the heart, reduces attachment to material things, and reminds people that everything ultimately belongs to God.
Sharing food is a way of expressing gratitude by ensuring others can also experience relief and nourishment.

At ILM Foundation, we believe in nourishing bodies and minds. Together, we can create an interconnected community where everyone thrives!
