Background
The ILM Foundation, a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization, is the custodians of Humanitarian Day™. The Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity is a multi-faith civic engagement network established to support the growth of Humanitarian Day and related humanitarian projects domestically and abroad. Humanitarian Day encourages people to work together enthusiastically to disrupt the vicious cycle of poverty, hunger and neglect.
Humanitarian Day was founded in the month of Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar where Muslims fast and demonstrate the importance of sharing with others. The ILM has been the custodians of Humanitarian Day since 2000.
The first Humanitarian Day took place on the sacred ground of “Skid Row”, located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
ILM Foundation’s annual civic engagement curriculum includes a direct service campaign, monthly humanitarian events, and community organizing year round. CPHD also hosts the annual state-wide Humanitarian Day Leadership Conference to train leaders and share stories of families living through homelessness, no medical insurance and joblessness.
The buildings symbolize urban communities in need supported by the hands of people for the welfare of humanity.
It serves the unsheltered (homeless), unemployed, uninsured and incarcerated inmates within predominately low income urban areas regardless of race, gender, religion or age. The service area includes California, USA and International communities.

The short term objective is to create a pipeline of new leaders trained to address key issues that affect our society as a whole. The other short term objective is to develop a network to move homeless individuals into homes, jobless individuals into jobs and those without insurance access to affordable medical care.
Establish Humanitarian Day Community Centers and affordable housing units through America and abroad.
